Just got into HAB. Almost have no clue what I'm doing. But, the fun part is learning.
For my first attempt, I will be sending a GoPro Hero 2.
I even bought 2 with the 3D system. Hoping if my first launch goes well, I can film the second one in 3D.
All the test I have run on the camera so far indicate its going to work well. I placed it in my freezer at -8F and it held up just fine. No frost, no fog. Ran it till the battery died. 1 hour 45 min. Second test I ran it in my living room 70F. Battery lasted 1 hour 30 min. But, the unit got noticeably hot.
I also bought the battery back pac. That ran until the 32gb SD card got full. About 4 hours and change. Running it at 1080 30 fps normal angle.
Been playing around with the 3D system, and so far, 50 - 50. Half the time it works, the other half it pretends to work, but the video files are not synced correctly so you cant get 3D. Converting using the software it comes with is another issue. 15 minutes of film takes 3 hours to convert. And thats on a mac pro with dual quad core 3.0 xeon's and 16 gb of ram. Kinda annoying. Makes you think the software isnt very efficient. I can render a 2 hour film in hd in under 20 minutes. So I'm not to happy about that.
I'll keep you guys posted on my future tests, and my eventual launch.
BTW. Great forum.
